Georgia DUI driver kills woman; leaves trail of wreckage behind

GasBuddy Blog -- It was a string of car crashes and carnage so disturbing last week that it's being reported as far away as Anchorage even though it happened in Georgia.

Police in the Atlanta area say Michael Owen Snider, a 70-year old man from Stone Mountain, caused 15 crashes spanning two counties that left one person dead and another critically injured. Police say Snyder caused five wrecks in DeKalb County and 10 more in Gwinnett County.

Panicked drivers called 911 as Snider continued on, not stopping until he caused a fatal wreck and rammed his own truck into a Gwinnett County restaurant Wednesday night, police...

Your more likely to be killed by a drunk driver than by a firearm in the US but look at where the concerns are at?

as for this one, put him away for the rest of his miserable life. And remind him every day that he took a life, which is why he is there.

We need to mandate drink detectors in all the vehicles, similar to smoke detectors on airplanes. Connect all the detectors with the database and alert the police when one of the detectors is being tempered with. The detector's role will be to disable the vehicle when alcohol fumes are detected. Big fine for tempering!!!

Well....

Maybe it is time to test drivers over 65 yearly.

Maybe it is time to evaluate drunks at the wheel more often and get them off the road.

Sure there is an idiot at fault but the system too is at fault!

Take away his car and put him under house arrest with an ankle bracelet. Otherwise they'll spend a ton of money on him in jail and medical costs. It's not that he doesn't deserve to be in jail, I just object to spending good money on him.

This guy is like so many others who believe that they are above the law yet some publicity seeking legislator will promise a new law to stop people like this guy!

The guy should NEVER be allowed to drive again and the bar should be forced to close AFTER paying some HUGE fines. The bartender should also be brought up on charges.

Oh my God, that jerk has no heart, no morals and deserves to either be encarcerated permanently or something that will make him feel severe punishment.

Old news or not, that alcoholics actions are reprehensible.

Sounds like a Ford F-250 is a ruff and tuft vehicle. Hate it proved itself in this manner. The last time that 70-year-old will drive I'll bet.
